We are looking for a bubbly, people-friendly person to join us in our hostel/accommodation business in the role of Hostel/Accommodation Manager.

This is a permanent full-time position for the right applicant.

This role requires a hands-on approach to the day-to-day tasks required in running a busy hostel as well as over-seeing our 2 x other satellite accommodation properties to ensure all places are running efficiently.

You will be responsible for managing staff, systems and guests in our busy hostel and accommodation places, ensuring excellent customer service is achieved at all times.

You will be the ambassador for our business and NZ, therefore, you need to have real experience in the tourism or hospitality industry, someone who is equally at home with overseas visitors of all ages, and the ability to communicate and put people at ease is vital.

You will have experience in customer service, staff training and management, cash handling, along with the ability to market and sell our place to the world.

As we add to our existing services, the requirements of this job will change so a flexible approach to this role is required. This role is a developing one.

Managing the in-house hostel cafe and staff, delivering meals to guests is required so a knowledge of food-handling and cafe management is needed in our successful hostel.


o have strong leadership skills

o be a good problem-solver, trustworthy, a quick learner, and be good at multi-tasking

o have excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills in English, a grasp of a second language is helpful, as we have a lot of French, German and Spanish-speaking guests.

o previous experience in hospitality [minimum 3.5 -4.5 years] at least 3 of those would be in a supervisory or management role

o be flexible to work various work hours including weekends and holidays

o be self-motivated

o have a can-do attitude

o ideally possess some travel knowledge of new Zealand.

o be available to work for us for at least 3 - 5 years

o have experience in cooking and preparing food, under the Food Hygiene Laws of NZ

o have a current drivers license

o have experience in leading a team and motivating them

o be competent in IT, numeracy and literacy skills

o be committed to excellent customer service.
